Dozens From Across NC Gather for #SayHerName Midnight March

All black lives. The main focus of the march was to uplift the names, struggles, and erasure of black transwomen, ciswomen, and femmes; folks whose narratives rarely draw the local or national support they deserve.

We see in our own city that the case of Tawana Sampson, a black woman brutalized by Guilford County deputies, has not been highlited as much as other cases of brutality that centered black men. The #SAYHERNAME midnight march was one response to silencing of women’s narratives After a community gathering and speakout folks took to the streets and shut down the Eugene St. bridge.
